Shrimad Bhagavatam Maha Puran Pratham Skanda Chapter 2: Divinity and Divine Service

Chapter 2 of the First Skanda, often titled “Divinity and Divine Service,” begins with the dialogue between the sage Suta and the assembled sages at Naimisharanya, led by Shaunaka Rishi. In this chapter, Suta addresses the ultimate purpose of life and the essence of spiritual knowledge. It emphasizes the importance of hearing and chanting the glories of Lord Vishnu (or Krishna) as the supreme means to liberation (moksha). The chapter introduces the concept of bhakti-yoga (the path of devotion) as superior to mere ritualistic practices or intellectual pursuits. It also highlights the futility of material desires and the need to transcend them through surrender to the Supreme Lord. This sets the foundation for the later narratives and teachings in the Bhagavatam, focusing on the eternal relationship between the soul and God.

श्रीमद् भागवतम के प्रथम स्कंध के दूसरे अध्याय में, जिसे प्रायः “दिव्यता और दिव्य सेवा” कहा जाता है, सूत मुनि और नैमिषारण्य में एकत्रित ऋषियों, विशेष रूप से शौनक ऋषि के नेतृत्व में, के बीच संवाद शुरू होता है। इस अध्याय में सूत जी जीवन के परम उद्देश्य और आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान के सार पर प्रकाश डालते हैं। यहाँ भगवान विष्णु (या कृष्ण) की महिमा का श्रवण और कीर्तन करने को मुक्ति (मोक्ष) का सर्वोत्तम साधन बताया गया है। यह अध्याय भक्ति-योग (भक्ति के मार्ग) को केवल कर्मकांडों या बौद्धिक प्रयासों से श्रेष्ठ घोषित करता है। साथ ही, यह सांसारिक इच्छाओं की निरर्थकता और भगवान के प्रति समर्पण के माध्यम से उन्हें पार करने की आवश्यकता पर बल देता है। यह भागवतम में आगे आने वाली कथाओं और शिक्षाओं के लिए आधार तैयार करता है, जो आत्मा और परमेश्वर के शाश्वत संबंध पर केंद्रित है।

श्रीमद् भागवतम को प्रथम स्कन्धको दोस्रो अध्याय, जसलाई प्रायः “दिव्यता र दिव्य सेवा” भनिन्छ, सूत मुनि र नैमिषारण्यमा भेला भएका ऋषिहरू, विशेष गरी शौनक ऋषिको नेतृत्वमा, बीचको संवादबाट सुरु हुन्छ। यो अध्यायमा सूतजीले जीवनको परम उद्देश्य र आध्यात्मिक ज्ञानको सारबारे प्रकाश पार्नुहुन्छ। यहाँ भगवान् विष्णु (वा कृष्ण) को महिमाको श्रवण र कीर्तन गर्नु मुक्ति (मोक्ष) को सर्वोत्तम साधन हो भनी बताइएको छ। यो अध्यायले भक्ति-योग (भक्तिको मार्ग) लाई केवल कर्मकाण्ड वा बौद्धिक प्रयासहरूभन्दा श्रेष्ठ ठहराउँछ। साथै, यो संसारिक इच्छाहरूको व्यर्थता र भगवान्प्रति समर्पणद्वारा तिनलाई पार गर्ने आवश्यकतामा जोड दिन्छ। यसले भागवतम मा पछिका कथाहरू र शिक्षाहरूको लागि आधार तयार गर्छ, जुन आत्मा र परमेश्वरको अनन्त सम्बन्धमा केन्द्रित छ।
